HDMI / DVI
The High-definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is suited for the consumer electronics market. HDMI provides an interface between any audio/video source, such as a set-top box, DVD player, gaming consoles or A/V receiver and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (DTV), delivering higher, crisper image quality.
Digital Visual Interface (DVI) is a display interface that supports data transfer from a PC to a flat panel display in digital format. Used extensively in the PC market, DVI is an all-digital interface, improving performance and video quality.
Full Compliance Test Support for HDMI V1.3b
HDMI.org published version 1.3 of the HDMI specification in June of 2006. V1.3 adds higher display resolution formats, including 1080P, deep color formats with serial data rates up to 3.4 Gb/s. In March 2007 HDMI.org published an updated Compliance Test Specification (CTS V1.3b) document that incorporates new tests for the capabilities defined in HDMI V1.3.
Tektronix has developed its third generation integrated sink, source and cable test solution to address the new requirements of CTS V1.3b. With leading HDMI test solutions since the first HDMI specification has been introduced, Tektronix provides a complete, flexible and cost effective solution covering the latest compliance test requirements.
The complete HDMI compliance test solution for CTS V1.3b includes high-performance hardware and comprehensive software. For a detailed description of the complete solution please also see the recommended test equipment lists for HDMI Source Test, HDMI Sink Test and HDMI Cable Test.
Tektronix demonstrated the total test solution at the CEA 861/HDCP PlugFest7 in September 2006 in Milpitas, California and at CEATEC Japan in October.
