WORKING AT FOXTEL
FOXTEL has over 1900 employees nationally, primarily split across two sites. Sydney is home to FOXTEL's head office and "Playout Centre" where television production and transmission takes place. FOXTEL's Customer Sales and Service Centre and Cable and Satellite Operations is located in Melbourne. In addition to these two major sites, employees are also located in Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia.
FOXTEL was launched in October 1995 as a joint venture between Australia's national communications carrier, Telstra Corporation, and News Limited, the Australian subsidiary of the global entertainment and media group The News Corporation. The Australian based television and publishing group, Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL) acquired a 25% interest in FOXTEL from News Limited in November 1998. FOXTEL is managed by News Limited and owned 25% by News Limited, 25% by PBL and 50% by Telstra.

The FOXTEL Television Centre is a showcase for leading-edge digital technology. The centre receives satellite broadcasts, edits and re-transmits programs via either satellite or via Telstra's optic fibre cable network to its subscribers. |

The dynamic and energetic call centre operates on a rotational shift basis, and handles over 100,000 calls each week from all over Australia. cable and satellite operations
Located also in Moonee Ponds, FOXTEL's Cable and Satellite group has a strong working relationship with external parties that carry out field activities such as installations and hard disconnections. The group also deals with many internal enquiries such as multi dwelling issues, satellite address discrepancies and many other tasks.
