LOS ANGELES -- More than 6,000 Dodger fans entered the Dodger Rose Parade sweepstakes on dodgers.com for a chance to ride on the Dodger float along with a guest on New Year's Day. Lifelong Dodger fan Ricardo Parra, 31, graduate of El Rancho High School and resident of Pico Rivera, won the chance to ride on the first-ever Dodger float.

In addition to representing all Dodger fans, Parra has served our country honorably in the United States Navy for 13 years as a jet mechanic. Parra invited his wife Veronica to be his guest and on January 1 they will ride alongside their favorite Dodger player legendary pitcher Fernando Valenzuela.

The Dodgers' Golden Anniversary celebration will commence New Year's Day at the 119th Rose Parade. Fans interested in volunteering to decorate the Dodger float can get more information at www.fawwdecoration.com.
