Fujitsu Develops High-Speed, Power-Efficient ReRAM Featuring Limited Fluctuation of Resistance Value

Kawasaki, Japan, December 14, 2007 â?? Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. today announced the development of a new type of resistive RAM (ReRAM), a type of non-volatile memory, which combines low power consumption with limited fluctuation of resistance value. By changing the structure of the ReRAM by adding titanium (Ti) to nickel oxide (NiO), and by limiting the current flow from the transistor, Fujitsu Labs has successfully reduced the current needed to erase memory to 100 micro-amperes or less. Furthermore, even in high-speed erasure operations requiring only 5 nanoseconds, fluctuation of resistance value which affects the device's quality has been reduced to one-tenth (1/10th) that of conventional ReRAMs. Fujitsu Labs views the new ReRAM as an alternative to flash memory that combines high speed and low power consumption, in a low-cost embedded memory.

Fujitsu Develops Highly-Reliable Multi-Layer Interconnect Technology for Logic LSI Devices for 32nm Generation and Beyond

Tokyo, December 12, 2007 â?? Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fujitsu Limited today announced their development of technology that enables high-reliability multi-layer interconnects for logic LSIs for 32nm generation and beyond, by using copper with manganese additives in combination with an ultra-thin film barrier metal. Compared to conventional technology, Fujitsu's new technology effectively reduces line resistance in interconnects, and increases endurance against electro-migration - a cause of LSI degradation over time. This technology will enable Fujitsu to provide highly-integrated high-performance LSIs to customers.

Update Regarding Sony Battery Pack Replacement Program

January 30, 2007 â?? As previously announced, Fujitsu Limited and various Fujitsu Group companies and affiliates have been offering a voluntary replacement program for Sony-made battery packs in specified Fujitsu notebook PC models since last October. To date, however, many individual users with battery packs subject to the replacement program have not yet applied. We would once again encourage customers to confirm whether their Fujitsu notebook PCs are subject to the program and, if affected, apply for replacement of the battery pack as soon as possible.

28 October 2006
Update Regarding Sony Battery Pack Replacement Program

October 28, 2006 â?? On October 17, 2006, we updated an earlier notice to Fujitsu customers regarding the Sony battery pack replacement program, providing information on how to verify which Fujitsu notebook PC models were eligible for the voluntary replacement program. In the meantime, on October 24, 2006, we received a report from a customer in Japan that a Fujitsu notebook PC with a battery pack subject to the replacement program had an incident in which the battery pack overheated and sparked. After investigating this incident together with Sony, it has been concluded that the incident resulted from the Sony-made battery pack, and we are now pursuing further detailed investigations.
