Lions 2007 Season- A look back Let's flash back to the preseason, when quarterback Jon Kitna boldly predicted that it would be a "disappointment" if the Detroit Lions did not reach at least 10 wins this season, a prediction that many scoffed at. Now, move to Week 9 of the season, with Detroit coming off an impressive 44-7 romp of the Denver Broncos at Ford Field. The Lions held a 6-2 record, were in the midst of a three-game winning streak, and sat just one game behind the Green Bay Packers for first place in the NFC North.
Scorching Pistons down Wizards for 10th straight win Richard Hamilton led a balanced Pistons attack with 20 points, seven rebounds and nine assists and Detroit won its 10th straight by cruising past the Washington Wizards, 106-93, at the Verizon Center. Rasheed Wallace and Chauncey Billups had 16 points apiece and the Pistons shot 48.7 percent from the floor to earn their first January win following an impressive month of December, during which they went 15-2 and head coach Flip Saunders was named the league's Coach of the Month.
Drake and Zetterberg help Red Wings down Dallas Dallas Drake scored for the first time in 46 games and Henrik Zetterberg had two assists in his return to the lineup, guiding Detroit to a 4-1 win over Dallas in a battle of the Western Conference's top two teams at Joe Louis Arena. The goal was the first for Drake in his return stint with the Red Wings, having last played for the club back in 1993-94. Zetterberg, meanwhile, had been sidelined for five games with back spasms, and provided an immediate boost.
Henne, Michigan shut down Heisman Trophy-winner Tebow, Florida Chad Henne completed 25-of-39 passes for a career-high 373 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions, and the Michigan Wolverines held off the ninth-ranked Florida Gators, 41-35, to send retiring head coach Lloyd Carr out with a win in a wildly entertaining Capital One Bowl. Adrian Arrington had nine grabs for 153 yards -- both career highs -- and two scores for Michigan (9-4) which closed Carr's up-and-down season with a big win. Mike Hart gained 129 yards with two scores on 32 carries, but fumbled twice inside the Florida five-yard-line. Mario Manningham had five catches for 78 yards and a score for the Wolverines, who won despite four turnovers, to none by the Gators.
