The following are some important and interesting notes for allergy and asthma sufferers

25% of all allergies and 50% of all asthmatic diseases are directly traceable to dust mites

Allergy is the most widespread chronic condition in the world and the sensitivity to animals
and dust mites are two of the most common.   Most allergy problems are first
seen by family doctors or pediatricians who will then recommend
an allergist if it is felt to be necessary.

*

Currently, the treatment of choice
by most professionals for their patients
who are allergic to animals is complete avoidance.

It is unfortunate that this treatment is not very practical.&nbsp
There are those who just simply will not follow this advice and
those whose livelihood depends on animals and are unable to comply.

It is even more unfortunate that there are some alternative measures and products
that are not cures, but that do help significantly in a very large percentage of instances.
However, they are seldom, if ever, mentioned or recommended.

Intense emotional issues surface when people are told to give up their pets, being especially
traumatic when several children are involved and only one is allergic. Indicative
of this is the extremely large number of persons who keep their pets
in spite of being told to give them up. Estimates of these
by allergists range from 75% to 90%.

In selecting an allergist, especially if you already have cat or dog as a pet,
look for a physician who will be sensitive to your feelings and do everything possible,
within reason, to help you keep it.  Most younger, progressive physicians will.

*

Giving your pet up for adoption
should be your last option
not a physician's
first.

*

Allerpet has found that over 75% of those persons with pet-related allergies
and who use it regularly find it to be almost completely effective.

In all situations, Allerpet substantially reduces the
pet-related allergens in the home.

*

You should read this if you have allergy problems related to dust mites.

Some manufacturers and sellers of allergy products are selling
laundry detergents with
misleading label copy that gives the impression that they will
help to solve your allergy problems
by washing away dust mite, pet-related and other allergens.

You should understand that washing in any soap, detergent, or even plain water
will
remove some allergens, including dust mite and pet allergens . . .
but "some" is usually not good enough when you need help.

If you are buying an allergy/asthma product, it is usually because you want its help.
Be certain that this product has been formulated based upon active ingredients
proven to be successful in independent, formal, scientific, university testing
to eliminate all dust mites allergens.

Check the ingredients ! ! !

All 'active' ingredients should be listed on the label.
Search the National Library of Medicine for allergy
/asthma testing,
especially for testing using these ingredients.
All active ingredients and information can be found there.

Think twice when you see words like proprietary as an ingredient.
"Proprietary' is not an ingredient.   It is a word meant to keep the buyer
from knowing what a product contains . . .
and this could be potentially very serious

if it happens to conflict with another medication that you may be using.

You should always know what goes in, on, or around your body.
