Vellus Products, Inc., is a manufacturing company in Columbus, Ohio USA, that custom designs grooming formulas for animals. A dream come true for President Sharon Kay Doherty who purchased her first show dog in 1976. "There were no authentic salon grooming formulas for dogs or horses. The shampoo and conditioner products available contained either oil or lanolin in the formulas which causes negative side effects to the hair and skin. Human hair products were not the answer either, resulting in irritation of the skin." Mrs. Doherty stopped showing in 1992 to work with nephew, David A. Tanner to introduce genuine salon grooming formulas to the animal industry.
Dr. David A. Tanner's impressive background as a research chemist in the personal care industry, along with Mrs. Doherty's understanding of animal hair and skin, brought the dream full circle to develop the animal salon formulas known today as Vellus Products. Their dedication to use only superior cosmetic grade ingredients made the difference. Vellus offers a complete program of, bio-balanced salon formulas for animals, that are appreciated by dog show exhibitors, horse trainers, royals, celebrities and caring animal owners around the world.
